Upgrading the Corn Exchange, Leicester

We are delighted to be working with main contractor Jeakins Weir, on this £1.9m project to transform the Corn Exchange, New Market Square in the heart of Leicester as part of a five-year £9.2 million redevelopment project to encourage more visitors to this emerging part of the city.

Home to one of the most historic markets in the country, Leicester now boasts a wonderful new food hall after the old indoor market, dating back to the 1970s, was demolished a few years ago.

Making New Market Square more attractive with new cafés, bars and businesses is an important part of the enduring vision. Focusing on the well-known Grade II listed Corn Exchange, our remit includes replacing external lighting with environmentally friendly LED lighting that changes colour to highlight various aspects and characteristics of this iconic building.

The Knight & Garter

No strangers to the challenge of working with listed and historic buildings, we’ve also been involved in revamping the Knight & Garter (former Molly O’Grady’s) and King Richard III pubs, all within the same regeneration area. Take a look here for more information.

We’ll keep you posted about progress on the Corn Exchange in the coming months.
