By the end of 2023, it’s anticipated that there will be more than 1 million EV drivers in the UK, and the availability of charging points is becoming an issue across the country. As the UK works towards net-zero by the end of 2050, EVs are growing ever-popular, and therefore so are electric charging points.

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a way of helping businesses to improve their green credentials and significantly reduce the cost of installing electric vehicle charging points. In line with the universal drive to adapt to greener ways of using electricity, it’s a great incentive to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
Nationally, the number of EV charging points is increasing as the public move towards quieter, cleaner power and away from traditional fossil fuels. In fact, research shows that electric cars are the fourth most searched for category online.
With this in mind, we expect the need for electric charging points in the workplace to rise.
Currently, the WCS grant is £350 per charging point, and businesses can apply for up to 40.
As a certified OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) supplier for this scheme, Fusion Electrics can help support with this process.

The are a number of criteria that you must meet to qualify:
○ You can claim a grant if you’re a business, charity or public authority.
○ You’ll need to have off-street parking and demonstrate a business need to install electric vehicle charging points.
○ You must own the business premises (or have landlord consent for charge points to be installed).
○ You must use an OLEV-approved installer. That’s us!
To begin with, speak to a member of our team who can guide you through the process of installing EV chargers.
From there, you’ll need to make a Workplace Charging Scheme
application to check that you meet the eligibility criteria.
Next, a voucher code will be sent to you. Pass this to us, and we’ll claim the grant on your behalf once we’ve installed your charging point.
Don’t delay! The WCS voucher code will only be valid for 120 days from the date of issue, so it’s a good idea to apply as soon as possible.
