Sherwood Oaks Hospital

The Challenge:

Fusion was asked to carry out electrical installation for Sherwood Oaks Hospital, a new NHS Foundation Trust mental health facility in Nottinghamshire. The Trust’s existing Millbrook Mental Health Unit in Mansfield was found not to meet their requirements for safety, privacy or therapeutic benefits. Due to space restrictions and budget considerations, the Trust chose to purchase a new facility to adapt into the new Sherwood Oaks Hospital.

How We Helped:

As per the main contractor’s design, Sherwood Oaks Hospital required electrical, fire alarm and data cabling installation to prepare the facility for existing Millbrook patients to move in. The project requires us to regularly liaise with many other specialists, including Tilbury Douglas (the main contractor) and SDA (the M&E designer), to ensure that everything is carried out as efficiently as possible.

Working within an NE3 contract as part of a team of construction partners on this project, the Fusion team is dedicated to ensuring efficient management and positive working relationships between all contractors. This dedication to best practice also provides clarity of achievement of the costs and greater engagements of the programme, enabling a positive delivery of the project.

The Outcome:

Sherwood Oaks Hospital will provide a secure mental health facility for NHS patients. Adult Mental Health Services will move to the Sherwood Oaks facility, giving the Trust the necessary space at the Millbrook Mental Health Unit to renovate and improve their Mental Health Services for Older People. Following completion of the project, Fusion will also carry out testing and commissioning of the electrical installations to ensure that the building is electrically safe and fit for purpose.
