ABOUT
Fusion specialise in managing the supply and installation of electrical and energy changes for business and domestic customers throughout the UK.
If you run a business, have you considered installing electric vehicle charging points?
Vehicle emissions represent the UK’s largest source of CO2 emissions. Therefore, showing your support for electric cars is a responsible commercial decision – as well as being better for the environment.
By 2022, it’s anticipated that there will be more than 1 million EV drivers in the UK. Did you know that you can receive a grant to reduce the cost of buying and installing charging points by up to £10,000 thanks to the Workplace Charging Scheme?
Whatever the nature of your electrical project, we’ll give you sound advice, realistic solutions and a very competitive quote.
The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a way of helping businesses to improve their green credentials and significantly reduce the cost of installing electric vehicle charging points. In line with the universal drive to adapt to greener ways of using electricity, it’s a great incentive to encourage the use of electric vehicles.
Nationally, the number of charge points is increasing as the public move towards quieter, cleaner power and away from traditional fossil fuels. In fact, research shows that electric cars are the fourth most searched for category online.
With this in mind, we expect the need for electric charging points in the workplace to rise.
Currently, the WCS grant is £500 per charging point, and businesses can apply for up to 20.
As a certified OLEV (Office for Low Emission Vehicles) supplier for this scheme, Fusion can help.
We can provide any type of electric vehicle charger, and will review the best manufacturer to suit your installation.
Are you eligible for an OLEV Workplace Charging Scheme grant? Check whether you meet the criteria below:
This depends on your needs. Wall-mounted Type 2 7kW chargers are the most common.
They’re compatible with the majority of electric vehicles and will charge cars fully in around 3-4 hours – certainly within usual working hours.
You could also opt for a faster 22kW unit or even a rapid charger.
Ask us for recommendations according to the nature, layout and requirements of your workplace.
There’s an immediate cost benefit, as your business will save on fuel costs. This is typically more than £1,000 a year for commercial fleets and employee vehicles.
You’ll be seen to be supporting the environment and promoting better use of resources. It’s a great perk for employees and encourages the switch to electric cars.
While your team is working, their cars are charging. It’s nice for visitors to be able to charge their cars, too.
You’ll also be lowering your company’s carbon footprint and reducing CO2 for cleaner air, as well as demonstrating your corporate social responsibility.
The WCS grant allows you to install up to 20 sockets, with a contribution of £500 per socket, so that’s a significant subsidy. However, you must apply for the grant beforehand, as you won’t be able to claim retrospectively. See below for more criteria.
First of all, you’ll need to make an application to check that you meet the eligibility criteria.
Next, a voucher code will be sent to you. Pass this to us, and we’ll claim the grant once we’ve installed your charging point.
Don’t delay! The WCS voucher code will only be valid for 120 days from the date of issue, so it’s a good idea to apply as soon as possible.
