As part of BOC’s commitment to strengthening its regional presence and supporting industrial growth in the Midlands, a new BOC Gas & Gear store has opened at Infinity Park, Derby. This strategically located facility serves as a key supply hub for the engineering, manufacturing, and automotive sectors, providing fast and convenient access to industrial gases, welding equipment, safety gear, and expert technical support. The new Derby location reinforces BOC’s dedication to delivering reliable, local service backed by a nationwide network.

The Challenge:

Delivering the BOC Gas & Gear installation at Infinity Park, Derby came with a clear priority: completing the project on time to meet critical operational deadlines and align with the broader site development schedule. Midway through the installation, unexpected changes to the internal building layout introduced a significant challenge, requiring a swift redesign of key infrastructure elements to match the revised architectural plans.

To maintain progress, the Fusion team worked collaboratively with Wilten Construction, the Client, contractors, and site management, ensuring effective communication and fast decision-making. This agile, solutions-driven approach allowed the project to stay on track, delivering a high-quality, safe, and functional facility despite evolving requirements.

Outstanding Features:

The BOC Gas & Gear installation at Infinity Park, Derby distinguishes itself not only through operational efficiency but also through its strong focus on sustainability and future-ready infrastructure. This cutting-edge facility incorporates several key features designed to reduce environmental impact and support long-term energy performance:

• EV Charging Infrastructure: The site includes 5 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, meeting the growing demand for sustainable transport solutions and supporting low-emission vehicle use among staff and customers.
• Solar Power System: A total of 139 high-performance solar PV panels, each rated at 595 watts, have been installed—resulting in a combined system capacity of 82.7 kWp.
• Advanced Inverter Technology: The PV array is integrated with a Solis 80kW inverter, ensuring optimal energy conversion efficiency and reliable system operation.
• Sustainable Energy Output: The solar installation is engineered to generate approximately 74,102 kWh of renewable electricity annually, significantly offsetting the facility’s energy consumption and reducing its carbon footprint.

These features support BOC’s broader environmental sustainability goals and highlight the company’s commitment to responsible, energy-efficient operations at its newest Gas & Gear location in Derby.

The Outcome:

Despite ongoing, client-driven design changes throughout the project, Fusion successfully delivered the BOC Gas & Gear installation at Infinity Park, Derby on schedule. By adopting a flexible and responsive project management approach, the team effectively navigated evolving requirements without compromising on build quality, safety, or delivery timelines. The outcome is a fully operational, future-ready Gas & Gear facility that meets both the immediate operational needs and long-term growth objectives of BOC and its industrial customer base.
