Hinckley & Bosworth Community Hospital

Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital has two adult inpatient wards which provide sub-acute care, complex rehabilitation and end of life care.

The Installation:

Fusion Electrics successfully delivered a renewable energy project at Hinckley & Bosworth Hospital, completing the installation of 122 high-efficiency solar panels across multiple roof spaces. This project was carried out over a three-week programme, designed to minimise disruption to the hospital’s day-to-day operations while maximising energy performance for the site.

The installation was meticulously planned and executed, with our team working alongside the hospital’s estates department to ensure safe and efficient access to the roof areas. The finished system will significantly reduce the hospital’s reliance on grid electricity and lower its carbon footprint, supporting its wider sustainability targets.

The Challenges

As with any live-site installation, this project wasn’t without its challenges. One of the most significant factors during delivery was the extreme heat — with work taking place during one of the hottest weeks on record.

High temperatures brought additional safety considerations for our team, particularly around hydration, breaks, and sun exposure while working at height. The roof tiles themselves became dangerously hot during peak daytime hours, which required careful scheduling of tasks and additional PPE measures to reduce the risk of burns or heat exhaustion.

Despite these challenging conditions, the team adapted and maintained excellent standards of safety and quality throughout. The successful delivery is a testament to the resilience, planning, and professionalism of everyone involved.

The Outcome

The successful completion of the solar panel installation at Hinckley and Bosworth Community Hospital marks a significant step forward in the site’s journey towards greater energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
