The Strensham Depot is a key operational hub for National Highway, responsible for maintaining and managing major roadways across the West Midlands and surrounding regions. Strategically located near the M5 and M50 motorways, the depot plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and resilience of the road network.

The Installation:

The Fusion team was employed to decommission and safely remove 176 existing 300W solar panels, totalling 25.8kW. As part of the upgrade the client has kept all of the old panels.

Once the old system was removed by the team, we installed 133 brand new 405W solar panels, delivering a new system capacity of 53.86kW. The installation utilises the existing 50kW Solis PV Inverter. This ensures the optimal performance and cos-efficiency. The original strings from the previous array have been reused to maintain the systems compatibility and allowed us to streamline the integration.

New mounting equipment was installed using beam clamps provided by the client, enabling us to ensure secure attachment to the roof structure.

The Challenge:

On this installation we were informed by the client that they had noticed a roof leak. Fusion were instructed to store the panels on-site and wait for an external roofing company to fix the leak. Once this had been completed the team set to work on installing the new panels on a mounting system that would reduce the chances of a leak occurring again in the future. This became a challenge for the team as it caused a slight delay on project completion.
